Hitachi's new UVP tool; 130mm (5") Reciprocating Saw Model CR 13VBY

The European Physical Agents (Vibration) Directive 2002/44/EC aims to protect workers from the harmful effects of vibration by placing a duty of care on employers to minimize the risk. With operator's safety its top priority, Hitachi is addressing the problem of HAVS (Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome) through constant innovation in the design and manufacture of tools. Hitachi's new UVP tools including the CR 13VBY 130mm (5") Reciprocating Saw with low vibration technology have been developed to help meet the goals of this directive and market demand for lower vibrating tools.

Counter-weight technology

There is a low-vibration counter weight mechanism in the Model CR 13VBY. Vibration is suppressed by reciprocating the counter weight in a direction opposite to the plunger that reciprocates in a forward and backward direction. Thus the Model CR 13VBY can greatly reduce vibration experienced by the user during cutting operation (about one third of the vibration level of the current Model CR 13VA)
